there are many amazing fly fishing streams in america, and most of the best fall out here in the west. luckily, a blue-ribbon stream and one of the best trout streams in america sits 4 hours north of boulder in casper, wyoming. even luckier is that this weekend my dad and i embarked on an epic trip to the grey reef section of the north platte river. to say the fishing was great is a complete understatement: the fishing was ridiculous. our guide garrett hooked us up with his knowledge of the river and we killed the place. fish after fish. several 21 inch, 3-4 pound fish. it was unreal. on saturday we caught between 50 to 60 fish. we fished one particular 75 yard run for over 3 hours and several times my dad and i would both have rainbows or cuttbows simultaneously on the line. it was just amazing... my dad and i had an incredible trip. we saw vultures, a bald eagle, muskrats, a loon, an antelope racing a car (not even kidding), and some gorgeous fish.
