Joe Gibbs - one of the Father's of Reggae

I stumbled across Joe Gibbs today, an early reggae artist and profound influence on the sound of Bob Marley and the Wailers. Jimmy Cliff, where Sitting Here In Limbo is from, called him the "Father of Reggae". It's not often that one finds true heartfelt music, and I think i just found a winner. I just got his 1975 album, Life Is A Contradiction.

You can check it out HERE and read reviews HERE and HERE.

I must say, it's very honest music... full of hopeful tunes and real songs about heartbreak and love. It's just very honest, and the band is so cohesive it couldn't mesh together any better.

Check out the youtube video above. Don't let the mismatched audio and video distract you. Listen to his voice and appreciate the depth and lyrics. Sometimes the album sounds like soulful old-school R&B, sometimes straight roots reggae, and sometimes it has a swing to it.

This is definitely a find, dig into it. Send me an instant message and I'll send you the album.
